Finding my blogging voice: 30 posts in 30 days

After working with literally thousands of bloggers through my work at BlogFrog, I am surprised at how many of us are still finding and discovering our "blogging voice". Its not the act of writing that has us stumped. We're articulate. We know how to write. We can take a reader from point A to point B. We are moms, entrepreneurs, wives, nurses, politicians, and firefighters. Its not like we have nothing to write about! For me, its defining the starting point that stops me and halts the entire process for days or weeks. This (and being flat-out busy) is why I only post once a week, sometimes less. Which one of those inner women am I writing as?

I thought the answer to that question was simply a choice. Like I could ask myself "which of these inner women do you want to be today?". Just spend an intentional moment and empower yourself to make a choice. You know, take a logical approach. But its not that easy. As much as we like to compartmentalize our lives so it occurs organized (which equals control), we are whole beings, not recipes or lesson plans that can be neatly filed away and pulled out by subject when the need arises.

So I decided to flush the sucker out. I am doing an experiment that forces me to move too fast to over-think things (can you tell I do that?). If I had all the time in the world to make a decision about something, I would take it. If I was given 2 minutes to makes that same decision, I'd go with my gut. And my gut rarely disappoints me. So I am challenging myself to write 30 posts in 30 days. Not enough time to over-analyze things but enough time to actually act. This exercise will seem silly to those who already post everyday because you figured this out eons ago. But it will get me out of my head and into my heart, where I'm convinced my blogging voice really lives.

I started this project on May 23rd. Its been 9 days and I've written 7 posts. I'm a few behind but I am committed andI'll keep you posted on my progress!

Anytime I am connected to wireless internet it periodically stops functioning as if I am no longer connected. However, the computer shows that it is still connected, and people around me are having no problems at all. This usually happens four or five times in a two hour period. I try reconnecting, but it only lasts maybe ten minutes. My computer is regularly scanned for viruses.
