For some reason, my brain cannot process a blogging conference in pieces and blog about it along the way. I envy those who can. For me, the days pass in warp speed and I don't even begin to compute the experience until I'm on the plane on the way home. Same thing happened at BlissDom.
I am home from the Casual Blogging Conference now, in my comfy living room chair watching the boys (two of whom seemed to have grown as tall as me in the past three days) and their friends wolf down chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen and debate skinny jeans, Mountain Dew, and how many times they've seen Get Smart. Those familiar sounds assure me I am home. I am pleasantly exhausted, happy that at least I can nurse my stupor in the comfort of my own home.
The learning, advice, and knowledge shared will serve me for a long time to come. But the part I will cherish forever are the reunions with women who have grown to be my friends and the intros to inspiring bloggers I've always wanted to meet. It amazes me how eager and available women are to be in awe of other women for their accomplishments. It is a beautiful thing to witness and be part of. Watching connections begin, grow, and blossom into loyal friendships within days is par for the course at a gathering meant to celebrate women and their stories.
This post is the first phase. The part where I release a huge exhale and acknowledge that it all really happened. Today was about getting home, hugging my kids, unpacking, re-stocking the fridge (no cooking happens when I go away) and beginning the recovery process. Tomorrow I will actually try to remember what I learned.
